John Melton - Fine Artist
I've had a love for cameras and photography for over 45 years. It really began to blossom in college when I met and studied with wildlife photographer, Ron Sanford. Of course, this was long before the advent of digital cameras and Photoshop, so experimenting with slide film was a painfully slow and expensive process. One of Ron's statements has always stuck with me: 'You're only as good as your last shot.'
With the introduction of digital cameras, I found myself fully engrossed with the new medium which expanded my horizons of creativity exponentially. When it came time to decide where I wanted to retire, we chose Bend, Oregon because of it's seemingly endless outdoor beauty. My work has been published in 3 national calendars and 25 national magazines, and I'm proud to be chosen as one of the featured photographers for the Bend Visitors and Convention Bureau.
